London Buses route 415 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, United Kingdom. The service is currently contracted to Abellio London.

History[]

Route 415 was started in March 2008, running from Tulse Hill Station and ending at Elephant and Castle. There have been no changes to the route yet. The 415 provides a mere back up to other service that were being altered from the same date. To address the deficiency that all buses from Brixton Hill and Streatham Hill areas omitted Stockwell, going straight at Brixton to Brixton Road/Oval resulting in a change of bus in Brixton, route 333 was diverted to run via Stockwell Station instead of via Brixton Road, Route 415 was to maintain capacity on Brixton Road to support the 133 which had been the initial reason for creating the 333 in the first place to assist on Brixton Road.

Meanwhile capacity was becoming an issue between Tulse Hill Station and Brixton particularly during the peaks. The main route over this section was the 2 which had been formerly split in 2003; the Crystal Palace to Brixton section becoming the 432 with both sections running more frequently. Despite this the routes were still struggling whilst demand on the southern section of the 432 was relatively light, so the decision was taken to reduce the 432, capacity being maintained and increased between Tulse Hill and Brixton by the new 415.

The new route also provides a new link from Tulse Hill and Brixton Road/Kennington, as well as provideding additional capacity Between Oval and Elephant and Castle supporting the 133, 155 and 333 and of course the Northern Line.

Abellio took over the route service in 2015. [1]
